Rest, today and everyday.

Labor Day is for the people! It's our day to do for ourselves, stay away from work, and rest. This is the only day of the year dedicated to the working people, but we are deserving of much more when it comes to getting a break—not just from our employers, but from ourselves.

Working in America is weird. It takes up all of your time but often leaves you with little to show for it. Sure, you get paid, but oftentimes people find that their jobs take more from them than they give. Not only are Americans more overworked on average, but we're also stressed, exhausted, and pushed to our limits. I don't think I have to link an article with statistics to prove this to you; you probably already know by experience. We've all had at least one job that we absolutely hated or that drained all of our energy. When your job takes all you have, what is left for you?

This Labor Day, I hope you realize that you deserve more than just a day off. You deserve to give yourself rest on more than just state-approved holidays. We're living through a pandemic for God's sake! And you're still here, surviving?! That's a miracle! You deserve fulfilling rest for all that you've endured and all that you have yet to encounter.

Here are some reminders to take a break if you still need convincing:

  1. There is no such thing as earning rest.

  2. Rest is your right and your duty to fulfill unto yourself.

  3. You can't be productive if you're too busy being tired.

  4. If you work yourself to death, you can easily be replaced.

  5. You don't get paid enough for this.

  6. Rest makes way for gratitude.

  7. Things feel better after a nap.

You deserve a break. Go take one.
